Following the attachment of the welt, a space is created between the insole and the outer sole. This void is then filled with cork.

This layer provides additional insulation, comfort, and a customized fit as it molds to the wearer’s foot over time.

The final stage involves attaching the outer sole, which is usually made from leather, rubber, or a composite material. The sole is stitched to the welt and midsole simultaneously, encircling the boot’s perimeter. This method, known as “outsole stitching," is performed with precision to ensure a secure and consistent bond. The sole is then trimmed and shaped to the final dimensions of the boot.

Goodyear welted construction allows for a boot that is not only exceptionally durable but also water-resistant and easy to repair. The welt acts as a buffer between the insole and the sole, meaning that the sole can be replaced multiple times without affecting the integrity of the upper, extending the boot’s lifespan significantly.
