Factory Friday: February 28th

Factory Friday: February 28th

It's Friday and we're here with some behind the scenes shots from the production floor. We build our boots here in Eugene, Oregon and we're very proud of our process and the end result, and we think you will enjoy some behind the scenes action.

A load of leather from Seidel arrived this week.

Quite a bit of Sesame Double Shot.

As well as one of our favorites from last year, Snakebite.

The last of the Coach rambler.

Another angle on the sewing.

Awaiting their final closing stitch.

This holds the footbed in place during lasting and is removed before corking.

A big ol' batch of Black Cypress Teacore is on the line this week.

Multiple boots coming through now with storm welts, something we had moved away from for a while.

Black Cypress Teacore getting welted.

An even closer look at the welting.

The level surface created by the cork filling is required before applying the midsole.

Here Black Oiled Rough Out is between having the outsole glued on, and the outsole being stitched.

To ensure the cleanest, strongest bond, we use a press on our heels.

Just look at that stream of leather dust being sanded away.

Natural Cypress with a plain toe is coming soon.

Garnet Rambler at the finishing stage, where a stain is being applied to the midsole, welt and heel stack.

Almost finished, these boots are sitting before buffing the stain for a smooth, even result.

Hopefully this was an enjoyable insight into our process. Check back next week to see more.

Will we ever see the Eugene Regrind sole again? Or the “gum” colored Commando sole? I loved those options and it’s sad they haven’t been seen recently. Cheers!
